This spot, a few steps away from the Vatican City has a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff is warm & vibrant. At the end of your meal they feed you limoncello & grapes at no extra cost. It does help, also, that they pour a healthy serving of wine
We were extremely happy -

Great place to have a Big Affordable Lunch before joining Vatican Tours that meet about a block away. Quality Quantity and pricing of Food and Service is what I dream of when anyone says Italian!

Found this hidden gem through Tripadvisor, actually! (Also recommend that app besides Yelp if you're planning to travel through Europe!)
This restaurant is definitely worth all of the high ratings. We paid in cash, but not sure if they take card!
LOCATION: Literally a 2 minute walk down from the Vatican Museum entrance. The GPS will lead you right to it.
RESTAURANT: Super cute Italian family owned restaurant. We were greeted by the owner upon arrival and we were seated beside an open window. There's a lot of indoor seating plus outdoors too if you like to just people watch and enjoy the scenery.
AMBIANCE: Very lively. The owner is definitely an entertainer, making sure his servers are doing their job and sharing jokes with guests. Environment is very casual, very family friendly. We made friends with the table beside ours which was really cool.
RESTROOM: Yes! Restroom you don't have to pay to use. The restrooms are small, there's only 2 stalls and the door doesn't lock so hold onto it. Restrooms are very clean.
MENU: So the menu is favorable straightforward and is sectioned out into pasta, pizza, seafood, meat, salads, and dessert. Most of the items are reasonably priced, like their pizzas are 8,00 euros and plain pastas are about 10,00 euros.
Here's what we got:
Complimentary sausages (4/5): We were surprised when our server told us this was a special gift on the house. Seems like everyone around us got this special appetizer. The sausages were tasty but a bit on the salty side. I really like the grilled onions that came with the sausages.
Complimentary bread (4/5): It's definitely a staple. They don't serve it with olive oil and balsalmic here. You can dip it with whatever sauce you order your food in. Bread isn't warmed and its a bit bland, but tastes good when dipped in sauce.
Spaghetti Al Pomodoro (5/5): My ABSOLUTE favorite being that it's my first pasta here in Italy. Spaghetti was PERFECTLY al dente. The sauce was so creamy and tastes so good with the thick layer if grated parmesan on top. I went to spaghetti heaven. Huge portion too, not bad for 10,00 euros.
Mixed Salad (5/5): This comes plain with olives, slices if parmesan, olives, and lots of lettuce. They leave a bottle of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt for you to make your own vinaigrette. We did a giant spoon of each and a sprinkle of salt. It was absolutely perfect. Great for 7,00 euros. Olives are a bit salty!
Margherita Pizza (4/5): My first pizza in Italy and it was much more different than I expect it. The bread is thick, like focaccia bread. The sauce is light and so is the cheese, just a small layer of each so you can really taste the bread. An order is 8,00 euros and is equivalent to a small sized pizza back in the states. It wasn't bad, it's just different and I'm not used to it yet.
Complimentary Limoncello (5/5): Complimentary alcohol?! WOW. I thought it was lemonade but I was wrong. There's about 18% alcohol in these and it's basically lemon zest, sugar, and alcohol. You take it in small sips even if they serve it in a shot glass. A few of these had my face turning red. They're no joke.
Complimentary Tangerines (5/5): Fresh and juicy, they gave us a whole bowl of tangerines. We used them as chasers for the Limoncello. They are soooo good.
Water (5/5): I know it's weird to write a review about water, but their bottled water is so good. How is it so delicious and crisp?!
CONCLUSION: Wonderful family restaurant. This is definitely an amazing experience for me. Servers were very attentive and accommodating. They were really nice to us despite the language barrier. Food came out fast and in large portions. So many complimentary items, I was shocked.
Also, the owner's wife came to tell us our full amount which should have been about 30 euros for the service and food we ordered but she only charged us 24 euros which was awesome. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is visiting! -

The location wAs right near the vatican but it is family owned and everyone one greeted us and shook our hand when we walked I in. The food was awesome! They even brought us out two plates of sausage and chicken as a giftt. ThEn the brought oUt deserts and drinks afterwards on the house. It was a great experience and they wEre so friendly.
